Crushed crinkle red velvet Reds skirt on Once upon a time

Hopefully the link below shows the picture. Its from, what i can tell, a crushed/crinkle red velvet with the lines going straight down. the perfectionist in me doesnt want to make the costume unless i can get the near exact fabric. I live in the us so that is a factor too (us fabric store or ships here) Thank you!! Reds Skirt

Or it's sometimes called crushed velour, or panne. I made leggings, a balero and twirly skirt for my GD out of hot pink panne and the drape and twirliness was wonderful!!! And my GD loved the soft fuzzy feel too. Looking at the picture of Red I am not sure if it has vertical stripes or if it's just the hanging and crushiness of the fabric. I've never seen striped panne myself so I am thinking it's just regular panne. It also looks more burgundy than red to me--kind of like the burgundy color here I picture Red Riding hood in more of a red like this I think theater groups use panne so much because it never needs ironing. Whether it's hung up or thrown in a heap, it always looks pretty. ------ Thank you Lord for my Mother who taught me the joy of sewing.

Definitely some form of gathering or pleats at the top, but I think what appears to be the stripes is actually lines from being pressed. Alternatively, if you're positive they are lines...you could always stitch them in yourself, a la pinstripe or something. ------ Call me Han. I'll try anything once :)

And I agree with a previous poster that said a lot of the lengthwise texture you're admiring comes directly from the construction--the gathers (or possibly cartridge pleats) at the waist. With that amount of material gathered around the waist, you'll need something relatively lightweight to keep that fabulous swish. Here's a great shot from etsy showing the texture of crinkle velvet; alas it's only a scarf! I searched etsy for "Crinkle Velvet" and found this yardage. The color is a little too orangey, maybe? But it helps to know the fabric you're looking for really exists! (A couple really glorious skirts on there, but in the wrong colors!) (If you decide to make the entire ensemble, please tuck in your chemise. That's the equivalent of wandering about with your bra straps AND underwear showing. And that would be going with more the back in time kind of theme too. But hard to tell by just that picture. But if you don't care about that, and want yours easy care and machine washable instead (particular if going to be wearing outside/ot of doors in woods and in fields and such were lots of stickers and such might all get picked up and stuck in it) I think all Joann's brick and motor fabric stores keep cheap red panne knit more polyester crushed kind of modern velvet in stock I think all of the time. It's only something like $2.98 or $4.98 a yard, is I think 60" inches wide and I think would only take maybe 2 yards of it. Or you could go someplace like a real Thai Silk store, get real woven and crushed silk and rayon velvet, but it would be only maybe 45" inches wide, cost way mulitple times over per yard, and not be as easy cleanable, and probably you would have to wear a slip under it too.

In the description she says its a crinkle crushed velvet. Where she got it i have no idea as i still cant find it anywhere. Thank you for your input and advice. Im still hopeful someone comes across where to find it and solves my mystery lolSimilar or exact fabric
