Splicing patterns together; where should I zip?

The first, 5748, had an awful neckline and the way the waist worked out made me look wider than I am. I also wasn't a fan of the skirt. The bust was a perfect fit, though. The second, 3853, had a lovely skirt and a much better neckline. However, I just couldn't get the darts to work for modern day bust shape. So I have kind of "spliced" the patterns together, using the darts of the first and most of the design on the second. (Though I may do a different skirt, but that is neither here nor there.) 5748 has a back zip. 3853 has a side zip. Either way I am going to use an invisible zipper. I can't make up my mind where to put the zipper on my combined pattern though! Anyone have preferences or advice? ------ Call me Han. I'll try anything once :)

That said, you might want to test your muslin by pinning one opening shut and seeing how easy it is to put the dress on. And I'm fairly flexible and can zip the back myself. Although, if I did it in the back, I would need to put in a hook and eye and have someone do that probably. Hrrrrr. I am so indecisive. I will fart around with the dress some more and try basting in a side zip and see how I like it. Thanks! ------ Call me Han. I'll try anything once :)
