Hi,
I have been reading all the posts concerning the Janome Coverpro. I own the 1000 CPX and am still in the experimentation stage. Great Posts and I have found them extremely helpful.

My questions is concerning the supposedly free-arm feature. I don't for the life of me understand what the manufacturer could have been thinking. There is no way to put my project completely under the presser foot due to the shortness of the free-arm. Am I missing something?
Thanks for any input.

I agree! I have the 900 and just don't see where it is valuable at all.

Are you trying to coverstitch in the exact middle of your project? I just used the free arm yesterday to cs several sleeves. You only need an inch of it under the presser foot. If your project is larger, like the hem of a large t-shirt, pull the extra fabric towards you so just a small amount if it is under the presser foot and around back of the free arm.

It's pretty small, all right. I pretty much ignore it most of the time. It also seems a little flimsy, so I don't want to be taking it off and putting it on and having it get broken.

I also have the 900 and find the "free-arm" to be pretty useless. I usually just do my coverstitching in the round for hemming sleeves, legs, etc.

The design is flawed and very different from a SM, but it is still usable.

I have yet to purchase the Janome Coverpro (next on my list!), but am familiar with your problem. I have the same situation with my Husqvarna 936. On that particular machine, I think it's because the loopers etc. are in that area, so it cannot be open and free any further to our right.
