What kind of shoes do you wear if you are wearing a maxi dress?

Highish heeled sandals in the summer and high heeled tall to the knee boots in the winter, for me, if I just want my legs to look as long as possible. Because no one can tell then, how much is me and how much is my shoes. But maybe if it was a more casual summer Maxi dress and was going to walking around a lot outside, or just in the house, or comfort would count the very most, then flat sandals or maybe even just flip flops.

Right now the all the Summer ones seem to be the very most popular with kind of rather tall high heeled platform wedgies with really tall and un-bendable soles. But if you already have to worry about not tripping or stepping on some long to the floor dress hem, throwing too tall and maybe not all that stable high platform wedges into the mix, could possibly be an issue?

A bit of caution is worth something, even if your profession essentially demands high, high heels, which was the case with Jane Fonda as described here here.

From personal experience, I can tell you that a broken ankle is no fun at all. Five weeks in a cast--phooey.

I like the dansko sissy's but they are discontinued and hard to come by, now dansko has a new one out pretty close but I can't remember the name. I would also wear the SAS strippy, and I have this really fun pair of metalic wedges by Gabor that goes well with just about anything! lol

I would wear wedge sandals, but I wear heels most of the time anyway.

Some people like heels, some don't and there's arguments for both sides, pros and cons.

A jeweled sandal for the summer would be a chic way to wear them, with or without a heel, as would some of the 70s inspired throwbacks I've been seeing in the stores (also with and without heels).

Personally I would go with a flat sandal as my vision of a maxi-dress is relaxed summer bbq.

Getting your shoe wardrobe ready for next week aren't you?! I think either wedge sandals or jeweled flats are the way to go. That is what I am currently on the look out for. sigh. Long feet = horrible shoe shopping experiences!

No heels, definitely! The whole point of a maxi is maximum coverage, including shoes. Only the toes will be peeping out, so I'd make those count. Personally, I might wear ballet flats, jeweled thongs, or peep-toes. For the latter two, my toenails would be painted!

I have three types of shoes I normally wear with my maxi dresses, depending on the weather. Ballet flats, knee high boots (also flats), and gladiator sandals (3/4" heel). Can you tell I like flats, LOL?

If you're average height or taller I think a strappy flat metallic leather sandal looks great. But it seems like the petite women need to wear heels or else the dress overwhelms them. A wedge or espadrille heel keeps it looking relaxed while giving height.
