Some sellers just irk me......there's a Babylock Ellagante on ebay right now and I just thought I'd inquire about it since the stitch count was SOOOO low. I also asked if they were the previous owner. Here's what I get back "The machine is being sold because another machine was bought in its place so this one is not needed anymore. This is a steal of a machine." Not quite answering my question, but whatever.

So, then I ask if everything that initially came with the machine according to the manual is still there. And here is what he says, "Everything should be there. If something is missing it is something small." Seriously?

This irks me about as much as Craigslist sellers that take a picture of the sewing machine cabinet (not the machine itself) and say, "hasn't been used in years, but runs perfectly!"

Weird thing is, this seller puts up these expensive machines all the time. I kind of wonder where he gets them, to be honest.

I agree, and I'd watch out for this seller like a stinky tomato. (if tomatoes can be stinky..) Chances are this seller's ratings aren't the greatest, because his communication stinks. I've been with eBay for about as long as I've been on PR, and I can't stand sellers who are like this either; makes it more difficult for those of us who are mass volume sellers.

It does sound like they are trying to avoid a direct answer, probably because they don't know the answer. Maybe they inherited the machine (that's the positive spin, I guess). Or they bought it somewhere else and are trying to resell it. Or could it be stolen?

That's the weird thing...his feedback is 100% and people seem generally happy with the purchase. But then again, when you buy a Babylock Ellegante 2 for $2700, who wouldn't be? But it certainly begs the question where these machines are coming from. He's not a dealer and I'm wondering if they're "falling off the truck" somewhere. They're not low end at all!

BUT...here's the other REALLY weird thing. The Ellegante (Model BLG) he has up right now has a total stitch count of only 27234. I just thought that kind of odd for a machine that isn't the newest model...they're up to 3 on the Ellegante. When I asked why he was selling and if the original boxes were included, he said another machine was bought in its place and that the packaging was the same it was shipped in, but the box has a different model number.

Yeah....kind of stinky.....

I wouldn't just steer clear, I'd put some kind of notice to myself to NEVER buy anything from him.

The key word may be "steal".

I'd only purchase a machine from Ebay if it were a reputable ACTUAL sewing/quilting store selling the used machine. I think I know which seller you're speaking of, the feedback is good but it just sounds odd, fishy whatever.

My first impression when I read your description was that this machine was stolen. I wasn't going to post that suggestion but it appears that several others have it too, so here it is...

Boxes shouldn't have different model numbers, especially if the item is rather new. It could be these machines aren't actual ones, but fabulous fakes. Steer clear, I'd say!

I was wondering if a techie person can reset stitch count the way some people know how to change odometers on cars?
