I know this might not seem like a big deal to a lot of people but it is a huge deal to me. I have a HH cup chest and have to do an FBA on every pattern every time, even the ones that supposedly are cut for busty women, unless they are a sloppy loose style anyway. But I just did a muslin of the top half of a Simplicity dress pattern from 1967 and it fits perfectly. PERFECTLY. I am astounded

It's a size 22 1/2 so I need to add two inches to bring the waist down where it should be, but that is far easier than messing with the bust. Maybe patterns for the short and stout lady are just what I needed all along!!

It will be interesting to see if the sleeves are too wide on my shoulders (I normally use an 18 above the chest). They don't seem to be. I am definitely going to make up this dress properly to see how it turns out with sleeves and collar. At least I already know the bust will be perfect

You go girl! "The good old days" were a lot better then, and this pattern proves it. It's refreshing to be reminded of the styles back then; a nice walk down memory lane. Hopefully you will be able to find more of these.

Lareine, this is an awesomely cute and chic pattern! However did you find it?
Congratulations on the fit of that pattern, now you have it right, you can use it to tame other less suitable patterns to your requirements. There is an amazing moment when you find something that fits really nicely, I had that with a Kwik Sew blouse over last spring and it was a wonderful feeling!
Been meaning to ask you, how is your SU doing? Still enjoying her?

It is a cute pattern, isn't it? I wouldn't normally wear such a high neckline as it's not terribly flattering on me, but I've been invited to a party and need a suitable outfit. It was going to be a Mad Men party but the host changed it to be a 1960s party so I have the whole decade to consider but only a few authentic patterns on hand. I think I got this one on etsy about a year ago.

The SU is going great! Oooh, maybe I can liven up this dress a little with some fancy stitching from its cams

JTink, 4000 posts! What a milestone

I will definitely review this one and post a photograph when I'm done, just for the record about vintage pattern fit.

In the meantime, I went back on etsy and ordered four more patterns from around the same time in the same size (and spotted the exact same pattern in the exact same size while I was browsing). I love retro clothing anyway and this is the perfect excuse to make lots. I wore trousers to work today from a 1940s pattern and felt very stylish indeed.

Hw great! The pattern is such that it can be modified for neckline, sleeves, even length to make a top. Great find! Definitely make a muslin pattern to use as a base with other patterns.

Oh my gosh, Lareine, it's a basic classic design that you can restyle in dozens of ways! Just super! You are gonna have some fun working with this pattern over and over!
