Date: 5/17/12 2:59 PM My OH was given a table, white, very sturdy, fold up legs, rounded corners. It's clean. It would make a great table for cutting fabric. Or a big family dinner. The problem is it's 4' x 7'
He says I can have it but I have no place big enough for it. I don't even know where I'd put it while folded flat.

Date: 5/17/12 7:24 PM One would think automatically of under the bed. but also you might be able to fit it behind your clothing in the back of a closet.
If you have a couch against a wall. it might slide behind it out of site.. then you only need to bring it out when in use.
OH.. And the back side of the fridge too.. Although not easy to get to. 
Don't give up.. walk around the house and take a second look at the possibilities. Maybe your DH could put up a small outdoor storage space for you.. even one of those rubbermaid ones as it sounds like you could use a bit of extra storage .. 
I know that extra foot beyond six feet makes hiding it difficult.. so I suggest you do try the back of your closet behind your clothing.. crossing fingers you can pull that off.

Date: 5/22/12 4:29 PM Well it's in the garage right now but that is incredibly inconvenient and it weighs a ton. Much too heavy to be lugging around.
LOL, some of you have a much bigger house than we do. Under the bed? Um, no. Because a 4'wide board under the bed would require at least 4' beside the bed in order to get the table in and out. And no legs on the bed in it's middle. And the bed is only 6' 6" long. We have to turn sideways to walk beside the bed as it is.
What I meant though, was there is no place to put it opened up. I don't have a 4' x 7' piece of floor free, not to mention the space I'd need to walk around the table. Oh, it might work in my living room if I got rid of all the seating I have there.
There is no label on it. I think it was homemade from a piece of 4' x 8' plywood. The previous owner was big into photograhpy so I can only guess he had it in some kind of studio.
I'm keeping it till we win the lottery. |

You may have just lost my sympathy .. You have a garage.. I don't even have a garage.. all I have is a barn shed.. and its a small barn shed.. not nearly as large as a real garage..

1 member likes this. No garage here either, just a slab where it might one day be... Basement not reliably dry. Anyone in Chicago who banks on a dry basement is a fool. Every year or so the river, rain, and sewer misbehave and finished basements are flooded. People rip out the carpet, file insurance claims, and bemoan on the news "Our fancy rec room was ruined, and we just went through this last year!".
Just having a basement for storage of stuff (on pallets up on cinder blocks, just in case) is a luxury after years of apartment living. Nothing precious is in the basement except what must be (like my beloved LG washer).
We have a switchback staircase, so no big furniture can be taken whole upstairs. Not even a box spring. We have the tiny city bedrooms, too. But it's not a refugee camp or a mud hut floating away in a flood, so it's as much a blessing as a palace. ------

LOL, more accurately put would be to say there is a garage attached to our house. It is filled to the rafters with the OH's junk. Literally. I don't remember what colour the floor is in there and it is no longer visible. I can't even get my bicycle out when I want it, and yes, that where the bicycle hooks are. I have insurance disclaimers that any friends the OH wants to show stuff to must sign before they are allowed to go to the garage with him. Well not really but I've thought of it. |

Oh. well. .your REAL problem is you have an OH.. taking up some space.. If I could get rid of Mr. Poorpigling I could store a LOT of stuff in the man cave.. Pity.. he just won't leave.. and gosh darn it you know I have tried to get rid of him. I sent him to Vegas but he came back home.. I put him out on the campaign trail.. but still he returned..
It can't be my cooking.. so its probably the big screen TV..
You know.. if I had a real garage.. I could put the TV out there.. and then.....hmmmmm |
