Well I had done that and was hand sewing the back side of the neck band down when I saw where the blouse neck edge had formed a tuck, at the shoulder seam. I have had this happen many times before so I carefully unstitched about 1 inch on each side of the tuck thinking I would ease the extra fabric back in the seam line. After three tries I knew it was going to take more than unstitching 2 inches of seam line.
That neck edge had stretched out a lot. For a moment or two I thought about making a tuck in the center back and calling the problem solved, then realized just how dumb that would look so took the neckband off and started over.
To make a long story short, I had to cut a new neck band making it almost one inch bigger.
I was explaning all this to my husband knowing very well his eyes would glaze over before I got to the good part.
So here I am telling all you ladies, just because I have to tell someone what a really great save I had made.
It took me a couple of hours to figure out what went wrong and then figure out how I was going to fix it.
Also had to overcome a very strong urge to pitch the whole thing in the trash.

Date: 5/17/12 8:56 PM Shhh.....don't tell the guys, but this illustrates a real difference between the sexes.
Our neighbor called my for my husband to come over last week to help with his antennae. We hadn't realized that he pulled the plug on his satellite too. They fiddled and fiddled and declared that the antennae wasn't working.
I sent the hubbie back over with my sewing room tv thinking the neighbor's tv probably was too old too work now without a converter box.
Sure enough, my little tv worked just fine and we told the neighbor to keep it until he decided what to do.
The neighbor called tonight before the hubbie got home and asked if he could come help with the converter box; he assured me that it wouldn't take long. (Hubbie's been gone for a while.) The guy has a great sense of humor and had a good laugh when I told him that I understood that sometimes it took 2, 3, 4, 5 guys to figure these things out.
Good going AdaH! And even if you husband's eyes did glaze over, he gets points for trying. ------ I have no idea what Apple thought I was saying so be a Peach and credit anything bizarre to auto correct. |
