I have searched the internet for large tracing paper
(recommended by Susan Khalje for Coture Dress
Class). Richard the Thread has it but you must buy
$35.00 minimum. Does anyone know of another
source or do you have any extra you would be
willing to sell? Thanks in advance for any helpful
info!

Is this the Saral Wax-free paper? Check out Dick Blick art supplies.

Dick Blick has a nice heavy tracing paper that is used for architect overlays. I bought that. It comes in various widths. It is a yellowish color.

I discovered light plastic party tablecloths in the Dollar store, 2 in a pkg. in a big 54"x108. They come in colors too so you could trace by dresses, pants, kids. You can write on them with pen and pencil, haven't tried indelible markers yet.

Medical supply stores sell rolls of paper that are rather transparent. The cost is very low. Try it!

I think carolbee is looking for large sheets of tracing paper.

I've been reluctant to purchased from Richard the Thread as well, just because of the price. I've been using Saral, but its drawback is that the colors only come 12" wide. You can get graphite in 18" wide, but that's still not wide enough.

So I bought the sample pack to see if it worked and found that red, yellow, and graphite worked the best for me. The rolls come in 6 foot lengths. I cut the length in half, laid the 2 pieces side-by-side and taped them together on the wrong side. Wa-la, a 24" X 36" sheet.

Sometimes I wish my sheet was bigger. I will probably buy 3 rolls next time and make my sheets either 36X36 or 24X48. 48" would be nice for pants and maxi skirts.

Her opening question has me thinking she may mean wide carbon paper or transfer paper rather than tracing paper? Joanns has it!

Call the phone number for Richard the Thread - they will fill an order over the phone for less than $35. And this waxed tracing paper is THE REAL THING. I had been frustrated with the stuff Joann's sells - plus any other tracing paper available because it was not what I remembered from when I was younger - and did a poor job. The stuff from Richard the Tread is FABULOUS
