So I'm moving to the Yukon in the next month or so, and am wondering if there's any PR members in Whitehorse (or the surrounding area)? I'd love your advice on resources up there, and get to know other's who share my passion for sewing!

CrystalWoods is in Atlin and I'm sure she finds herself in Whitehorse from time to time.
There is a good independant fabric store (can't recall the name) with a nice selection of knits downtown.

You can buy BurdaStyle and Australian Stitches at the Fireweed Bookstore, so there must be sewers around.

Have fun!

Cheap fabrics, like cheap shoes, are a false economy.

Ooo, I've never heard of Australian Stitches! I've heard of the Golden Thimble, which is a fabric store in the city, but I wasn't sure if they carried more than quilting cotton. If we're talking about the same place, then it sounds promising! YAY knits!

Thanks for the information!

Just as an FYI -- you can get/see Australian Stitches in town at McNally.

We need to get together before you head for the Great White North!!!!!!

I live in Atlin, just a hop, skip and jump south of Whitehorse actually a drive of 2-2.5 hours! I started a small sewing group in Atlin and we get together Saturday mornings from mid-October to mid-April. Bear Paw Quilts have a great selection of quilting cottons and offer quilting courses, a nice friendly place to shop, but prices are between $18.99 and 19.99 a metre! Golden Thimble carry a lot of quilting cottons too, in the same price range, and some other fabrics, but not a wide variety. I love going into their stores, especially Bear Paw, for inspiration, and I buy from them for small projects, but I usually purchase on-line when I am doing a big projcet, I just can't afford those prices. Welcome to the north!!
