Hi there, I am *still* deciding on which machine I want. Just a few more questions:

The Janome 1000cpx looks like such a big machine. I was wondering if the 900 has a signifcantly smaller footprint?

Can anyone point me to a review that shows a hem made with the 900? I would love to have a closer look. I've checked blogs and flickr, but without much luck.

I can't test the machines nor see them in person, so trying to do this all virtually.

Thank you for any leads if you can help.

The CP 1000cpx is 14 W ( with hand wheel) X 9 DX 12 H ( not counting the thread antennae). Hope that can give you some idea on the CP 900.

I just got mine and I still just have the demo without accessories or manual, cuz my dealer ordered mine. I hemmed sleeves and bottom of two cotton knit t shirts and cut off and rehemmed the neck of one of those, and the machine worked great. Comparing it to other ready to wear, you can't tell the difference. I used the narrow and the wide stitch. Also, putting some variegated embroidery thread in the looper to test, and it look pretty. Now, I want to get some thicker decorative thread for the looper to make some pretty stitches with that.

The CP 900 is pretty much the same size 13" across, 9" deep and 12" high without the thread thing extended.

I use mine a lot on knits and nylon/spandex blends as well as on cottons, denims, and just about anything else. The CP900 only has 2 needles so has fewer options for stitching than the 1000.

I'll see if I can find a photo of the stitching -- not sure that I have one.

Thanks for your replies. I dug a little deeper and saw some hem photos. I like the way it looks! I'm thinking the 900 is enough for my needs. Hoping to pick up someones unused model. Cheers.
