I'm working on M6554 an empire wasited dress with a large pleat in the front skirt. The fabric is a little sheer and needs a full lining, but I can't decide whether I should include this pleat in the lining. If so, should I treat the lining and fashion fabric as one for folding the pleat? Or treat the lining as a separate piece with its own pleat?

What sort of fabric are you using?

I'd probably underline (with batiste or something lightweight), or maybe make/wear a slip. But it really depends on the fashion fabric.

I'm using a lightweigh cotton lawn. It's just a little too sheer not to line fully, but the pattern only calls for lining the bodice. I have some cotton voile in my stash I like to line summer dresses with. I like to use the quick lining method from Threads magazine, but it seems like the pleat complicates things a little.

I'm also debating whether to add a facing, which is not included with the pattern.
