Date: 5/25/12 3:56 PM Hi everyone, I'm new to this board, so I thought I would jump right in here and ask two questions. What is the best sewing/embroidery/quilting machine and what is the best cotton fabric for lining children's clothing?
Thanks so! |

Date: 5/25/12 7:10 PM Depends on what you are lining. If you are using cotton, use cotton batiste. Be sure that you wash it a few times to get out any shrinkage. If you are making a girl's dress, you can eliminate the neck facing by using a lining in the bodice. Also, lining the skirt makes a nice invisible hem because you catch your stitches in the lining. |

Date: 5/25/12 11:17 PM I remember a class I took years ago where the teacher taught us how to substitute a lining for the facings of the bodice. We used the same fabric for the lining as the regular fabric. I believe it was sleeveless. If it was open down the center front or back, it was sewed and then pulled through the shoulders. Not sure if I could do it right now without a lot of testing. -- Edited on 5/25/12 11:19 PM -- ------ Janome serger 634D, Brother PC6000, Singer 500A & 328K, Bernina 600, White Rotary treadle, New Homestead A VS treadle |
