Anyone know the reason for the seam across the bust in some of the vogue patterns, such as 8816? and 8634? I always think that's a cute pattern, but then the seam turns me off!

I'm thinking there must be some design reason?

Isn't that supposed to be under the bust? It wouldn't be on me, of course, but ....

I made 8816 last week. The seam on me is 3 or 4 inches below my bust. The top part is cut on the bias to hang better, and the lower part is not. The seam there also helps bring in the sides so it looks less like maternity wear that can happen with an empire seam.

Aha! Figured there had to be a reason. I'm lazy so hate to do more work than I have to.
As for the bustline, did not know how else to describe it. I'm sure mine would fall far bellow the line.

So how did you like the finishedline product?

I didn't have a great fabric to try it in. What I had was not drapey enough. I was able to work with the fit though. I'll probably do it again in a slinky or soft jersey. The top itself was fine, and super fast to sew.
