Does anyone know the difference between the Janome Digitizer jr. Software & the Basic Embird software?

I don't, but I do know that software is expensive. Two less expensive options:
Embrilliance (Embrilliance.com), $150, with videos on their website, and Creative Drawings (Creative-Drawings.com), $400 for version 5 until they run out, and $600 for version 6. See videos on YouTube by sonsews.

Thank you for the information. I may just purchase the Janome Digitizer jr. As the dealer will help me with any issues I may run into & they offered it to me for $399.00 which isn't to bad from what I have found online.

The is all so new to me it's a bit overwhelming. I'm pregnant with my 3rd daughter so I don't have an abundance of time. Thinking being able to visit or call the dealer may be worth the extra cost.

Thanks again for taking time to help with my question.

Basic Embird will not allow you to digitize. you have to add a module to it for digitizing.

If you buy Embird, you will need to purchase Studio to digitize.

There are a couple of free programs, but I don't use them, even though I have them installed. Thredworks is an older dos based freeware program. It does nice shapes that you can do a lot with. The designs are not quite as smooth looking as those done in Embird, but the price is right. It also has layers and you can reuse the outline for the various layers.

Is there a big difference between Embird 2003 and latter versions ? I got Embird 2003, but it doesn't have Mega hoop in it

I need help to learn how to split design if it doesn't fit in the hoop. Is there any youtube tutorials ?

If there is any way you can swing it or get your Janome dealer to deal over the full digitizing program, MBX, get that instead of the jr. It's a fantastic program and you can do so much more with it than the jr. Embird basic is good for splitting designs, but not digitizing. If you are buying a machine, ask the dealer to give you the MBX for free or at a major discount. He/she can say yes or no. I have done a lot of negotiating in the past with great results.
