I see references to Quilt Markets on various blogs, which seem to be held in different cities.

Can anyone (the public) attend these shows or is it only for quilt shop owners?

Thanks.

The 'markets' are usually just for folks in the trade. You have to have a tax ID # etc to purchase, then it's only in bulk.

The only show I know of that is part trade, part consumer is the big one in the fall in Houston every year. I long to get to that one some day but it's a far piece from here in NC.

There are two shows in Houston - One is Quilt Market which is as you say only for folks in the trade and not open to the public. The other is Quilt Festival which is open to the public. They are held on consecutive weeks.

The start of Quilt Festival classes overlap with Quilt Market, which I think may be where part of the confusion is. We can get into the building for class, but not onto the show floor.

Quilt Festival is plenty big - it takes up the entire convention center and is usually first or second biggest convention in Houston for number of attendees each year.
