2 months ago, I was so excited to get my new serger! My Juno(Janome) 3434D, has worked well for me, but I needed something more durable then it for the amount of sewing I do. In walked my Huskylock.
I LOVE the size of this machine. Yes, it is a large serger but I love the space! I find it much easier to work on it then I do my Juno. Not to mention, it came with this great extension table. I love it as well. Since I sew a lot of skating clothes, the extension table is a handy thing to have.
I have to say that I was beginning to have buyers remorse. I have had the machine for just over 2 months. For what ever reason, the lower looper was giving me fits! It kept coming unthreaded and I have NO idea why. I was becoming very frustrated with my machine and I had begun to consider trading it for a different machine...until now.In the last few days, I have completed 2 skating dresses using my Huskylock. I had some frustration while making the first dress but today I had nothing but success while using my machine! Not only did I have did I finish my daughter's dress, I also figured out how to change stitches. It makes a lovely rolled hem! I could do a rolled hem on my Janome, but I never could get it to look quite like I wanted it to look. On this machine, it was a cinch and I now have the hem I have been wanting to have for 2 years!
I am not in love with my machine(not yet!) BUT I am happy I am now back to liking it. Threading it is becoming easier and I am relieved to know I did not waste 800 on a machine I did not like. I am no longer looking at exchanging my machine! I look forward to learning about all it is capable of doing.
I have more to say about this machine but I figured I would save it for the review I plan to write after I have gotten to know it a bit better.
I'm fairly new to sewing but I am finding it to be fun and rewarding!

I'm glad you are mastering this machine! I bought mine in 2009, and it's been up and down for me. I find it too complicated and finicky, and I just bought a BL Imagine and it is a terrific, problem-free serger. If I can't get the S21 to behave and coverstitch like a proper machine, it is retiring and being replaced by a dedicated coverstitch machine. I'm fed up with fighting with costly machines!
I'm a photographer, and one instructor had the recommendation: buy once, cry once. Went through inferior lenses and ended up getting the best ones in the end, many $$$ later.
