Good petticoat pattern?
AmberSage Advanced CA USA Member since 6/6/11 Posts: 2	Login to reply to this post Like this post Date: 6/4/12 3:21 PM Hi everyone, I've been in love with the vintage vogue patterns lately but some of the fuller dresses definitely need a crinoline or petticoat so they don't just hang shaplessley. I'm tempted to chop apart my wedding gown to use as a pattern (let's face it, I'll never take that out of the box again) since the crinoline was the perfect fullness. I could just draft my own, but I'm feeling a bit lazy and just want to follow some premade instructions. So... Does anyone have a go to pattern they use?

There is a link to the TV Guide article about how Alice Lon's mother made the fluffy petticoats that she wore on the Lawrence Welk show - definitely a true vintage pattern. In the Alice Lon version, the edges of the tulle are bound with satin ribbon, which creates quite a striking visual whenever a "peek" of petticoat is exposed. CMC

Several years ago when sewing for my DD's wedding I did a post on how to make a crinoline. It sounds as if you may want yours to be fuller, which means more gathering and/or more layers of netting.
