I'm not actually sewing at the moment. I'm making armor. But in both, I found myself wanting a decent croquis to work off of.
For men, I find good templates, that aren't overly sexualized and tend to show a realistic physique. For women, it's impossible to find the same!
I'm trying to find a pattern where the figure isn't doing an impossible Escher Girls pose, and where she actually has some meat on her bones. I'm not looking for a "plus size" croquis--a few of those I've found, but instead I want an average, size 12-14 girl just standing neutrally without weird things like a tiny head or being inexplicably standing en pointe.
I want to sketch out my patterns on top of them to give a better plan to draft the armor.
Anyone come across a good croquis like this?

It's easy to make one. If this is your size, make one of you or find a friend who is that size.
Take a picture, front and back of who you choose. Print it out at a size that's easy to work on. Take tracing paper and copy the photo, outline only in black pen or pencil that you then go over when you get it the way you want. Erase the pencil lines. I mark waist and bust on mine, but it's me and I am using it for testing garment styles and proportions. I copied it and then I scaled it up and down and picked a size that's easy to work with and printed one. I use it under tracing paper. Try and find heavier weight tracing paper so that it can stand up to erasure and markers and colored pencils if you need to color them.

Didn't Threads or somebody have a 'family' of croquis drawings to download a while ago? I don't remember the details but hopefully someone else does. There are also fashion drawing sketchbooks that come with a croquis predrawn on each page.
