I ran into an old friend outside the grocery store today and after we chatted I could not find my car keys anywhere. I could feel my phone in one jeans pocket, but the keys could not be found. In desperation, I stuck my hand into the other pocket and voila! There they were! it was amazing to me that I could not fell them jabbing into my legs like they used to. And they are quite snug fitting, too.

After losing 30 pounds, I visited a mining project I have been to repeatedly for over 5 years. Someone asked me if I was related to myself - "You look so much like that geologist from Vancouver - are you her sister?"

I laughed so hard!

Vivienne - that is hilarious! Love it.

I will add an old story (apologies to those who have read this before) from when I lost quite a bit of weight a few years back - a young man (lovely young man. I adore him, wherever he is...) saw me coming toward him in a crowded room, sized me up and did not move his chair for me to get past.

My funniest weight loss story actually relates to DH's weight loss.

We were attending a figure skating event and ran into a coach we hadn't seen for awhile -- she made a comment on how different I looked and wanted to know how much weight I had lost. She didn't really acknowledge DH and he was talking to the other person with us so never thought anything of it. The coach and I agreed to catch up later in the evening.

As we walked away, she called me back over and asked "Who's the guy?" She hadn't been comfortable asking in front of the group because she thought DH and I had split and I had a "new guy" -- which DH really was after losing 113 lbs. It took a little convincing to get her to believe it was really DH.

That is amazing, SheBear! I'll bet your DH had a good chuckle over that one.

These stories are making me sad!!

I am going to acquasize and faithfully and watching what I eat (although I have to admit that I still need some work on portion control.) I have lost a few inches everywhere and no has noticed. That includes my scale. According to it - maybe 5 lbs on a good day - if I stand just right, naked , and hold my body at a certain angle..... Maybe it takes more than 5 lbs out of 50 or so needed to notice.

Anyway, I refuse to give up because of all the other benefits. My groin area is moving much better and my body doesn't hurt as much everywhere else! (Fibromyalgia).

I also have a funny story from the last time I lost a lot of weight. I was in a plus size store with my sister and some of her friends. One of the sales clerks came up to me and gently/politely asked me "Are you aware this store only carries sizes for larger sized women? We probably won't have anything small enough to fit you."

Music to my ears!! I could have kissed her.

Good work and congrats to the rest of you!!

See, that's why I didn't recognize you right away at PR Weekend lol. Paired with the glasses too. As soon as you started speaking, however, that's when I knew! :)

I went through this too -- DH lost his weight quite quickly and everyone noticed. My weight is coming off more slowly but it is staying off. I didn't get many comments until I stopped losing pounds (or continue to lose them slowly) and started losing inches (lots of them). Then people started making comments.

Due to my other health issue -- people tend to notice how much better and more easily I am getting around which is music to my ears.

My biggest realization is that I am now too small to buy clothes in the plus size stores -- smallest tops are way too big and nothing else is proportioned properly . Unfortunately there is still a lot that doesn't fit me in the regular clothes stores which can be frustrating.

Keep up the good work.

Thank you Shebear- I appreciate the encouragement!!

I know I can't become fixated on what the scale says. Losing inches and keeping it off is far better. So is not being in so much pain at times and having more energy. No - I still can't do a lot most days but I sure can do a lot more for longer.

DH and I are going to start doing some long walks too. Went for one last Sunday near one of my favourite ravines. I could not believe how much more stamina I had! It used to be if I did a walk like that one afternoon - I was done - (couchbound) - for the rest of the day. As it was, DH coulld not come and I did another (albeit shorter) walk with him in the evening.

I am so glad to hear that you are moving much better. That alone for you must be the best feeling ever.

I remember what it is like to be in the "neverland" between plus size stores and regular size stores. It can be real frustrating. Hang in there and before long you will only have to go to the regular size stores.

My mother lost a lot of weight (and kept it off) after she went to New York to study acting in the early 1940's. When she came back to visit her smallish hometown, guys were falling all over her, asking if they could carry her bags. One of them asked if she was so-and-so, who had the fat sister. "No," she replied with cool panache, "I am the fat sister."
