I read this somewhere--on a regular favorite T or tank pattern, add from 5-?? inches to width at neck when cutting the front.
Then you play with the extra to make tucks, ruching, wrapping over. Ruffles seem to be disappearing, but I have seen interesting tucks that pull down one side, etc. They do look dressier and not so fussy as ruffles or embellished flowers.
I like the cool shirred sundresses for hot summers, but strapless leads to always tugging. What type/width straps to add so you can wear a regular bra?
Teens don't care and wear 2-3 colors of straps to show, but not for the mature.

Date: 6/10/12 0:34 AM I know Angie Zimmerman wrote an article for Dressmaking with Stitches (Australia) titled: Reinvent the Cowl. Don't know what issue it was but I have a pdf copy I could send privately to you for ideas if you like? Rita |
