Date: 6/11/12 2:38 PM I have been using a Hangar 9 heat sealing iron for preparing appliqué shapes. The iron worked great for about a year, and then all of a sudden it stopped working Can you recommend another small iron? Anyone ever used the Kandis Handi-Iron? |

I just got this and I absolutely LOVE it! I got mine from ebay, and I got 2 attachments with it, but so far I have only used the one that came on it.
I used it for pressing open the seams on my hexy quilt, it made dealing with little 1/4" seams a breeze! I also used it for pressing the edges of the center hexies around the freezer paper, it works great for pressing in little places without burning your fingers.
It gets H O T!!! ------ Cathryn |

Date: 6/11/12 5:46 PM I have the older clover model, but it didn't get hot enough. Maybe I should try that newer clover model. Thanks |

Date: 6/11/12 9:16 PM I have the Clover mini iron too and find it wonderful. It's great for folding edges over templates for applique and hexagons, perfect for making bias binding for needleturn applique and also great for ironing seam allowances open in collars etc. All those pesky little places my big iron has difficulty with. ------ Lynny - Geelong, Australia |

Date: 6/11/12 9:53 PM I have a Rowenta travel iron I've been using for applique. It is cute and diminutive the tip is narrow enough for working with small seam allowances.
I do not use the steam function, but instead use a mist spray bottle or Ellens Best Press. ------ Janome MC6600 Bernina 240 Juki MO735 Singer 201-2 Singer 221-1 Singer 15-91 |

Date: 6/11/12 10:40 PM I have that same Rowenta travel iron. Love it! It gets quite hot, and isn't fatiguing to use. I've never put water in it, so I have no idea if it leaks or how it steams.
I was also disappointed in my Clover mini iron, until I read somewhere that it takes a few uses to get it up to it's full potential, heat-wise. Dunno why, but I tried mine again and whadya know, it did get nicely hot after a few times. ------ 🌸 Plenty of machines, mostly Berninas 🌸 |

Thanks for that bit of info. I will try the mini clover again before I spend money on another iron. Maybe it was not used enough for it to really start heating up. |

Date: 6/12/12 10:34 AM I have read several reviews of the old clover iron that say it doesn't get hot. Maybe they fixed that issue with the new one with adaptable tips?
I LOVE the adapter because it has So many options! I am going to get the hot knife tip next for cutting template plastic. I HAVE to have a template, I can not draw a thing freehand and it's hard to cut plastic accurately. ------ Cathryn |

Date: 6/27/12 1:48 PM I tried my old Clover, and it is hardly hot enough for anything. Went to Joanne's
And with my coupon for half off bought the Clover mini iron II. Big difference!
This one really gets hot and worked great for preparing the appliqué shapes. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. |

1 member likes this. Date: 7/25/12 10:52 AM I bought this little travel iron from Amazon, it is a sunbeam steam iron travel iron. It works just like a regular iron but small, I love it. I have one of those little mini irons, made by clover. In my opinion, they are not worth anything, waste of money. Wouldn't recommend for anyone to buy one, it just doesn't work well. |
