Date: 6/12/12 6:27 PM I want to make myself some running shorts. Not compression shorts, but the "retro" looking ones with liners that marathoners wear. I've been running in the same pair I bought pre-kids from MEC. It's totally time for a new pair (or several pairs), but I can't find them for less than $50 each. Seems pretty steep for something I could probably make from less than a 1/2 yard of fabric.
What kind of fabric are the outer parts made of? I know it's definitely some kind of poly or poly/nylon lightweight woven and is really lightweight.
Also, anyone know where I can get the padding that goes in bike shorts? I have the same issue with bike shorts, except new ones are even more expensive than run shorts. |

Date: 6/12/12 11:08 PM the light woven nylon is supplex nylon (don't get it mixed up with supplex lycra knit)
another fabric they use for retro shorts and NBA uniforms is called dazzle ------ My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since. |
