There is only one Baby Lock dealer within an hour's drive of me. She is asking $1700 for the Imagine (not Imagine Wave) serger.
When I look at the prices on the reviews here, most are quite a bit lower. Since Baby Lock dealers won't ship, where do people find the Imagine if there's no dealer(s) nearby? Ebay and Craigslist? Any help would be appreciated.

If it makes you feel any better...a BL Imagine Wave sold on ebay, 31 bids, for $1,675.

Used...shipped...(*bump* *bang* *crash* ouch)...and no warranty.

IMO, you are much MUCH better off buying from a dealer...what's her price for the Enlighten? You may find little difference there, and the Enlighten has some advantages over the Imagine.

Wow, maybe I was wrong about the prices being lower. The Enlighten is only $200 more, making it $1900. It's just that I have never paid even close this much for a sewing machine or serger. I need to wrap my head around the idea of it being an investment for the long run.

Go for the Enlighten. I love mine like mad! The lighting alone is worth the extra $200, IMO, and it doesn't move or bounce around at all, even at full speed, which can be a problem with the Imagine. And the wave stitch is fun to have.

I know it's a really large amount of $, but this is a machine you can pop out of the box and use. It's going to make your serging life so easy and FUN!

It's even FUN changing threads, lol! No mucking about with tensions, no having to rethread in order...just serge serge serge!

Another bonus...they retain a lot of resale value. Important for your heirs (coz nobody will get your Enlighten from you while you're alive, lol!)
