Hi Everyone!

Does anyone have a good method for extending cut on sleeves like on Vogue 1250? I need a bit more sleeve coverage and when I just added length to the end of the sleeve cap it was tight and didn't sit right.

Thanks,
Judy

Cabinbaby just reviewed Jalie 3024 (one of my favorites), and posted this entry to her blog with pictures of the pattern pieces.

If you scroll down in the blog entry to the photo which shows how she combined the cut-on sleeve bodice piece with the crossover bodice piece, you can clearly see how the pattern piece is shaped. There is an extension at the bottom as well as the top of the armscye, and they both curve as in the photo. The armscye is deeper (lower) than with a set-in sleeve.

Check the photos of the finished dress for how this looks once made up. It can be shortened some or lengthened from the length as drafted in Jalie 3024. I have used this pattern piece as a model for adding cut-on sleeves to other patterns for knits. As Vogue 1250 is also a knit, this shape should work with it as well.

Incidentally, the midriff seam at the bottom of the Jalie dress hits just below the bust, and has some negative ease. The Vogue is more loose around the bust, because of all the draping, and being a one-piece front (without a bodice seam) it's harder to tell how exactly the two patterns relate. I'm not sure how this might affect how you want to draft this sleeve (possibly not at all), but keep it in mind.

I just read Debbie Cook's review of this pattern

She posted a great idea about extending the sleeve.
