I will be managing the Pattern Stash Contest this year. The contest runs from July 1 to July 31. This is the link to join. Pattern Stash 2012

If you have never participated in a contest before, Deepika has written a tutorial that will take you through the process. You can access it here: Contest Participant Tutorial

Connie has provided this link to patterns issued prior to 6 months ago. Patterns issued prior to Feb 2012

The Sponsor for this contest has been named...Saf T Pockets.
Prizes are:
First Prize: $75 Gift Certificate
Second Prize: $50 Gift Certificate
Here is the link to their website:Saf T Pockets

The rules are the same as last year. Please be sure to note the following points:
1. Patterns must have been in your stash at least 6 months.

2. This is a points based contest- 1 pattern used = 1 point. We will be using the honour system!

3. Tutorials that do not include actual pattern pieces are not allowed. If a pattern is downloaded (free or purchased) it must also have been either printed out or on your computer at least 6 months ago. Again this is on the honour system.

4. If you normally trace your patterns, whether from say a magazine like Burda WOF or just because you want to keep the original tissue, you can do this before July 1.

5. If you have unfolded a pattern to look at the pieces or cut them apart when you originally purchased the pattern (not now), the pattern is still eligible for the contest if it was obtained before February 2012. You may not cut out the pattern pieces now, nor lay the pattern out on fabric to see if it will fit in a particular yardage nor cut out the fabric pieces prior to July 1.

Rules:
This contest is your chance to use all those patterns you've been collecting but haven't had the opportunity to use yet.

1. Enter only those items which have been sewn from patterns which are in your stash AND you haven't used these patterns before. The idea is to encourage each other to use those patterns we bought but never used.

2. You can enter apparel or craft items as long as you SEW them.

3. Pattern Stash is defined as the patterns you have in your possession approximately 6 months or more (in other words, in your stash prior to about Feb 2012). Your guess is good enough; the idea is that you have had it a while and have not gotten around to sewing it. Downloaded patterns may be used providing they were downloaded around 6 or more months ago. Self drafted patterns are not allowed for this contest.

4. Patterns from magazines or BWOF, Patrones, KnipMode, Ottobre, etc. may be used providing the issue of the magazine is Feb 2012 or earlier. However, you may only enter 4 garments, of distinct types, from any one issue, and they must be patterns you haven't made before. The goal here is to open and use as many issues as you can.

5. You may only enter one item from each pattern (regardless if it is a wardrobe pattern or not).

6. Since this is a pattern stash contest, patterns should be new, unused, prior to the start of the contest. Fabric may be prepped, preshrunk, however patterns should be untouched. (For obvious reasons, there can be no muslins in advance of the contest start date.)

For each unused pattern which you make in item from, give yourself one point. The winner will be the person who uses the most number of patterns. (This is not a voted contest.) There will also be a random drawing winner, so even the less prodigious sewers have a chance at a prize.

Clarifications:

-Vintage patterns that you've purchased but not used will count. The fact that some previous owner may have used the pattern already is irrelevant to this contest.

-A pattern in stash must have actual pattern pieces.
Downloadable tutorials with no pattern pieces would not qualify.
An elephant stuffed animal where you had to download and print the pieces would be fine.
The pattern would have to be printed out and in the stash within the same time period that applies to any other pattern.

*Rules that apply to all contests:

1. All reviews must be entered for submission by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on the last day of the contest. Contest dates will be listed for each contest.

2. Note: for this specific contest, it is stated in the rules that patterns may not be drafted, tweaked, and muslined before the contest date. Fabric may be pretreated before the contest date.

3. Items intended for sale, or for which you were or will be paid to make, do not qualify for any contest, but items made for charity are welcome!

4. Unless otherwise stated in the rules, all reviews written for a contest entry must include a picture of the entry.

Contest Eligibility:

1. Any member of Pattern Review, either paying (FoPR) or non-paying, who's been a registered member on the site for 90 days prior to the start of a contest is eligible to enter.

2. Any member of Pattern Review, either paying (FoPR) or non-paying, who's been a registered member on the site for 90 days prior to the end of a contest is eligible to vote in a contest.

3. Any member who's won 1st place in a contest on Pattern Review ended in the previous 4 months is ineligible to win another contest (for that 4 month period).

I don't think rule #2 of contest eligibility counts for this contest since it isn't a contest where people get to vote. I think this sounds like a lot of fun for me to try and use that large stack of Burda WOF. Can I start tracing them now?

I'm much more of a pattern stasher than fabric, so i have sooo many unused pattern. Every time Jo-anns has a 99c pattern sale, I go get at least 5. I am not fast enough of a sewist to win, but I can probably contribute a good number! This will be good incentive to finally sew some patterns I have been meaning to for ages!

Welcome Sherril,
As long as you don't redraft the pattern, my reading of the rules says that yes you can start tracing patterns you intend to use now. I would think that redrafting would not include alteration for fit but would include combining pieces from two patterns such as using a long sleeve from one pattern on a sleeveless bodice from another. I will check with the contest committee to be sure.

Welcome lisaoliver,
Don't know what the prize is yet. As soon as decided, I will post it and it will show up under "All Contests" on the Home page.

I cut my patterns out when I buy them (vintage spoiled me where I didn't have to spend 2 hours cutting it apart just to cut fabric), and I have the last sale a couple of weeks ago uncut is all.

Does this count?

I'll answer this question, as I know Barb is busy and I am here now!
I don't see a problem with that Elaina as long as the pattern has not been sewn previously. (and I thought we had all the possible configuration of questions covered when we looked at the rules!)
We are counting on the honesty of the participants as to the "stashness" and pristine condition of the patterns!
