I am trying to find a fabric that I can use to make some pants/crops for summer that I can wear to work. I just can't seem to find any fabric!
I have been wearing pants made of the Bengaline fabric they sell at Joanns that is mostly Polyester with some rayon and spandex thrown in. The stretch runs lengthwise of the fabric so I have to cut my pants accross grain to get the stretc. These pants are now getting too hot. So I would like to find a fabric that has a little stretch but in cool and hangs nice for summer pants/crops.
I usually wear black pants because black is slimming
The pattern I use is a Kwik Sew-made for stretch fleece of all things -elastic waist-no pockets. I have some others for crops but they are all elastic waist-which I prefer.
SO does anyone have any COOL suggestions for me? I prefer something with some stretch...HELP!

Can you tell me which Kwik Sew pattern number you're using?
Is it #3837?

have you looked a good quality cotton? I like 100% cotton for the summer and make up for no stretch by having them a little looser. The elastic waist sounds like me also. I really good, drapey cotton is hard to findbut so worth it in hot weather. Most of the stuff out there is stiff or too limp. But once you find some really good quality- grab it.

It is KwikSew 3454 ! I go a size larger and used the flare style.

What about rayon challis? I don't have any in my closest right now, but I have used this for pants before. Rayon challis is made for cellulose fiber-so part tree and it breathes. I used a pattern with an elastic waist and a bit of a wider leg than it looks like your pattern has. They were very comfortable and I thought about making some more but not sure I have the right pattern.

Joanns sateen stretch I've used this for several pairs of pants for the summer. It comes in a few colors. It washes/dries great and if you get it from the dryer just before it stops...no ironing!

Edited to add - it's on sale right now

JoAnn's black super matte jersey is excellent for pants. The pants I made from it I used for ballroom dancing and they never felt hot since air moves through the fabric, a bit like georgette, yet the fabric is not see through at all. It never wrinkles, goes through the wash like nothing happened, and is matte so does not show lumps or bumps. I got samples of black matte jersey from several good online sources but found JoAnn's to be the beefiest weight best for pants and you can't beat the on sale price. And you can use your FoPR membership discount when you shop at JoAnns for 10% more off!

I like a stretch piqué or a linen for summer. The piqué especially says summer to me.
