I just shared this story at the bottom of a serger review, and I thought that it would be fun to share it here on the message board too.

I have been looking for a serger on Craigslist for a long time. I wanted a baby lock, but they were always too expensive. About three weeks ago I saw one listed in a close by neighborhood for $125. It sounded suspicious for the Eclipse DX to be listed for such a low price. But, after a few back and forth questions it was determined that it was the Eclipse (with the jet air threading), and it was for sale for $125. I was very excited and told the woman that I definitely wanted it and was glad to be able to get it and use it for some charity quilts and blankets that I make with my church's sewing group. When the seller heard how I planned on using it, she insisted on giving it to me! So, I got the serger for free. It is in wonderful condition, and now I am waiting for one of the women at church to arrange a serger lesson for a few of us who are using them for the first time. Sometimes in life, something wonderful and unexpected happens, and this was surely one of those times

Wow, how sweet and generous of the donor. And I bet you did not set out to tell the "church story" - it was when you got there and connected with her and you could tell right away she was a nice person that you mentioned why you needed a serger.

Yaaaaaaaay! Best of luck with your serging projects!

This wonderful and unexected thing that happened to you was a "pay it forward" moment. You and your church's sewing group have been paying it forward by making charity quilts and blankets and now it has come back to you!

That's a lovely story. I can never hear too many stories about kindness and generosity - and I mean from both you and the former owner of your machine. Thank you.
