I hope this isn't a dumb question. What is Heirloom Sewing? I have seen this mentioned on some sewing machine descriptions but I have no clue what it is.

Google to the rescue! All these are examples of 'heirloom sewing'.

Martha Stewart is a great fan of heirloom sewing if you can catch her show "Martha's Sewing Room" on PBS she shows how to do a lot of this stuff. I am a great fan and not nearly as good at it as Martha.

I believe Ally means another famous crafty Martha, Martha Pullen.

Generally speaking, "heirloom sewing" seeks to replicate the look of hand done whitework by machine, and features elements like cutwork, eyelets, pintucks, lace, and other decorative stitches. It's especially popular on baby clothes like christening gowns.

Thank you for y our responses. I looked up the definition of it and I was still confused. But, your responses cleared it up for me.
