Your favorite skirt pattern for border print fabric

I was looking at Butterick 4686. I'm pear shaped so I like how the skirt is not too flared. Most other skirts seem to emphasize the hips too much. What other skirt patterns have people tried and liked for border print fabrics? Thanks!

So a pencil skirt? or a standard gathered (ie dirndl) or pleated skirt (ie kilt)? Much easier to do it in something other than a pencil skirt! I like the ideal of a dirndl skirt too.

When I made it, I removed the excess fabric from the pleats. It fits smoothly over the hips without adding extra bulk, then the pleats open up to a fuller skirt.

In the past I've darted out some of the excess waist fabric and hidden the darts in either the gathering or small pleats. It works better in some fabrics than others.... I've never used a pattern for this. Just eyeball it and start sewing in some darts until you get the look you want. ------ blog: goodworks1.wordpress.com
