Date: 6/25/12 3:11 PM After reading fitting topics, I've been amazed at how an alteration here instead of there can make such a difference. I'm playing with one seam pants (today's fit V1197). So I measured and alteredand traced and got a pattern that I thought should fit me. Mostly it does, but I wanted less ease and I didn't like the general proportion. I read about making center side (non)seam adjustments to this type of pants pattern. I mean in the pattern piece before cutting. Soo ... I Basted out a 1" seam in the center side of my muslin (right leg only). I liked the front, but not the back. Soo ... I basted out 2" seam in the left leg CS "seam". This time I Liked the back but not the front, although it is my preferred alt of the two. Next I plan to take 2" from the back and 1" from the front to see what happens. But why would these alts not be equal front and back. I should add that I'm trying to Achieve a narrower leg over all and less droop (extra fabic) under my butt and my goal is more to learn about fitting and alt then to actually have a garment. |
