I love peplums or basquine as we call them here.

Check this Prabal Gurun on Zoe Saldana from TandL today:

How cute is that?

My first "grown up" dress as a teen was a lime green linen peplum dress my Sewing Aunt had made for me. Loved it...after I took out the Peter Pan collar, of course!

I have a lots of plans envolving peplums (let's hope I make at least one before it goes out of fashion again)

Any takers?

I never really thought of owning anything peplum; they seemed too fashion forward to me. However, I just started following Erica B's blog and saw her versions in
black faux leather and white cotton.

Very cute and simple with the focus on the cut. Her styling is of the peplum is also accessible. I might be inspired to try if there is a sale on Vogue patterns but am a bit worried on how it would look on someone with a disproportionately long torso.

Erica B looks fabulous in everything she wears!

Just wanted to add that the blouse pattern in the Burda Sewing Handbook has a peplum-- not too frilly. My daughters weren't thrilled with the pattern until I sewed it up, then they loved it! It adds a style detail and allows the waist to be very fitted.

I'm kind of torn. On the one hand, they are very feminine and can make your waist look *tiny!* On the other hand, I'm picturing some oversized/fussy peplums from late '80s bridesmaids' gowns and getting a little short of breath. LOL

One reason I like Erica B's so much is that the flare is not that extreme. If you can control that, you can control the "80's Bridesmaid" look!

marec, do the following within the IMG tag for the image:
1. After the URL of the image, add width=XXX with XXX being your choice of pixel numbers. So the code should look like ‹ IMG SRC='image url' width=XXX / ›

Example of width set to 100

Example of width set to 500

Hope that helps!
