Sexy Hexy Love quilt
I did hand quilt the other 2 centers, used the same rose and Betxi Bear. And......
I did my very first ever FMQ!! I CLEARLY need to practice more, and I do much better with a stencil. But I did it with no drawn design for the deep blue small swirlies and the floral border. I broke a few needles, and the stitch size is all over the place, but my daughter won't even notice.
Even with the fleece back really showing the quilting, it still came out pretty good!
The fleece strips had some stretching issues, need to work that out for next time, and one of the corners REFUSED to miter nicely. But all in all I am really happy with it!
It's in the wash now with 3 color catchers. I am SO NERVOUS! I have never ever ever made anything without pre-washing the fabric, so I am hoping and praying there is no bleeding colors!

Date: 6/27/12 2:29 PM You have cause to rejoice. It is so beautiful. I really love the colors and I am not one to care much for blue, so that says a lot. ------ Quilting is relaxing to me. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors.

Date: 6/27/12 5:52 PM Thanks so much everyone!
And I am MOST HAPPY to report- No color bleeding AND all the pen lines washed out! YAY!!
So for my first quilt made without pre-washing fabric, I can say that the finished product is no different than using pre-washed. I have heard so many people say they don't pre-wash because they like the quilt to look crinkly-wrinkly after it's washed, and I can now say that this quilt is no more crinkly-wrinkly than any of the others I made with pre-washed fabric. Cotton wrinkles when washed and dried, every single time it's washed and dried.
Now as far as using the fabric while making it, I still do prefer the way pre-washed fabric feels, smells and behaves. It is probably because it is what I am used to. ------ Cathryn |
