I am 5'1", maybe less by now... I don't have a job or anything to dress up for. I live in a pretty darn casual town. So why am I so drawn to this fabric?
cool, very pricey designer print.

Because a lovely three-season dress will make you feel good, and love doesn't need a reason?

And also since the colors and proportions of the print looked like they were designed for you.

And whether it is facing the hottest of the summer days or it is that time of year when we have to say goodbye to the last pretense at summer and even fall doesn't feel crisp anymore it feels good to wear something special, for ourselves and the folks that have to look at us.

Love it? Buy it.

Life is just too short to not have something you love and will enjoy.

And it's only the equivalent cost of one night's pub crawl...and healthier.

Thanks, ladies. You are all so kind.. ;)

Good thought about a three-season dress! I think I will try to find a pattern that might work, and then I might even go for it... unless, of course, it is gone by then, which wouldn't be awful. Not trying to enable anyone, but don't be afraid to buy it out from under me .

That pic was 10 years and 15 pounds ago. Maybe this dream dress could be additional incentive to get healthy again... and find somewhere to wear it! Probably too flashy for a wedding, huh?

Liz, I laughed when the link took me to Fabric Mart, because I've talked myself into and out of buying DEFINITELY UNNECESSARY items from the latest Julie's Picks flyers a couple of times. I don't have the most enormous stash but more than enough for my tiny space....

but honestly, your case is different. I was aiming at OK, inexpensive stuff (the Picks this month are all $3-$6), prints that aren't quite me or see-through stuff that I like but do not yet know how to line. Right now, though, I have enough so-so fabric to experiment on. So my purchase really would be just giving in to fabric lust.

What you feel is higher and purer. I think.

Liz, I think we are the people your mother told you not to hang around with.
