Subject: Crypton Outdoor Fabric Date: 7/1/12 7:12 PM

I was wondering if anyone has used this brand of outdoor fabric for lawn furniture cushions and pillows. It is supposed to be stain resistant and mildew proof. We have big problems with mildew here in Hawaii and have not found fabric that will not attract mildew. Tried Sunbrella, olefin, polyester, nylon, etc. I need to replace my outdoor cushions and chair pads about every 12-18 months because of mildew and mold. i am looking for something that is completely washable and mildew will wash off and hopefully not fade too much.
Joann's website says to vacuum to clean, but professional cleaning recommended. Has anyone tried to wash this fabric with soap and water?

Thanks for your help.

I upholstered my indoor sofa with Crypton fabric that looks like chenille. The fabric is very durable buy don't know about mildew. Crypton has their own website, you might check there and contact their customer service.
You might check into Phifertex fabrics. They make many types of outdoor fabrics and screening.
I wonder if using moisture absorbing crystals inside the pillows might help.

Thanks for the suggestions. I found out Crypton has upholstery and also fabric for outdoor. Joann.com carries them. I will go ahead and purchase some and see how well they hold up.

Thank you so much.

I noticed Joanns also carried the Phifertex.
