Date: 7/2/12 11:07 AM I have searched for a RTW Pittsburgh Pirate shirt for me to wear that would be different to the game. I found nothing I really like other than t-shirts. I want to make a tunic type top to wear to a pirate game. I am a plus size 18-20. Since the Pittsburgh Pirate company does not license their material, I could not find any, though I found something that might work. This is the link
Pirate Material
I want to somehow make it unique and maybe somehow make it look like a pirate top. This is their logo
Pirate Logo's
Suggestions for making and pattern suggestions would be appreicated. The game is July 3rd, so I have to really work on this quickly. |

Date: 7/2/12 11:29 AM You probably want to post this in the Patterns thread rather than sewing machines so people will see the topic better! Good luck! ------ "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."

However, in respect of fans of my adopted team (living in Central PA, and all), I'd suggest taking at look at your local Walmart. The ones here have re-introduced their fabric section, and they have lots of licensed teams. Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't have Pittsburgh Pirates fabric in stock. (Good grief, my local store even has wretched orange university of texas stuff.)
Of course, being a Dallas area native, I'm really a Rangers fan! Third time's the charm! |

I did see some licensed fabric at eBay.
I agree that, apart from fleece, this fabric is hard to find. |

Date: 7/3/12 8:23 AM I've only gone to a few Pirate games but lots and lots of Penguin games ... watching Mario and Jaromir play, ahhhh, those were the days. My suggestion is this ... wearing your team's "gear" is a way of being part of the the team and really fun at games. And that seems to be your intent with the pirate fabric ... but what if you got a Pirate T shirt in a man size (amazon has some) that is way too big for you and then recut it to fit your curves and fix those ugly sleeves into a super looking tee using one of your TNT patterns? You could even scoop the neckline a little to make it look a little more feminine ... Go Bucks! :) |
