2 members like this. Date: 7/4/12 11:27 AM I am new to sewing and find patternreview.com helpful and inspirational. Joann is having a Vogue pattern sale this week for $3.99 and I purchased 8823. We are going on vacation and thought an extra large stylish bag would keep the car neater-we could stash brochures, maps and books. There was no review for 8823 on pattern review and I googled it and found a nasty review on ladybird.wordpress.com. She is a talented seamstress but some of her reviews are just mean. I'm still going to make this bag but never consult this site again. Sewing is fun and a great stress reliever for me. Thank you for your wonderful site where I am provided with fantastic tips and great information! |

Sewing is a wonderful art in that it allows us to take something and turn it into something personal to us. Don't let other peoples views/ideas about something, take away the fun for you! Forge ahead, make the bag and enjoy the process. ------ Deborah Thompson

There is no reason for you to post to specifically call out a blogger for having a different opinion than you over a pattern (though "knowing" Lladybird, she probably wouldn't even care).
By the way, if you spent more time on her blog you would see that she does indeed post very favorable reviews.
Also, disappointment in the pattern companies' offerings is often discussed here on PR. There's nothing wrong with that. To each his own. ------ http://www.seamstressintraining.blogspot.com |

4 members like this. Date: 7/4/12 1:28 PM I read that blog and sometimes I agree, sometimes I don't. We live in the same neck of the woods, so it's nice to read locally as it were.
Take what people say with a grain of salt. I personally have no desire for a Chanel jacket, don't ever plan on making them and really, think they're kind of ugly. Many, many (many!) people will disagree with me, and call me out for desperately wanting a 20s flapper coat, complete with fur.
The nice thing about the blogs is there is one that will suit your style and needs. |

Date: 7/4/12 1:50 PM Well, that's the thing about blogs, I'm sad and maybe embarrassed to say. It's one person's point of view presented to the world. If one were to read my blog (non-sewing), they would probably be aghast at my comments about natural gas exploration. And yet, chances are, some people would concur with not only my assessment, but also my passion for the environment.
But don't let someone's "Bad Hair Day" get you down; we all have those! ------ "We don't impose our rhythm on Nature. The key is to respect and live within Her." Jean-Charles Boisset, Winemaker

Date: 7/4/12 2:09 PM Wow, thanks for the heads up. I love my Lladybird. She delivers the Snark esp. with some of the patterns Vogue has thrown at us in the last few years. Who can forget the Kors butt crack dress? The ridiculous pants with back fins? She might not have liked the bags because they seemed to her to be homemade looking. But that is what blogs are for, for people to express themselves and voice opinions.
BTW I read Lladybird for not only her sewing but also her cycling! |

Date: 7/4/12 3:23 PM Thank You Sew Ducky! Slightly OT, but I thought I was the only person on the planet who didn't care for Chanel style jackets.

You couldn't give me a Chanel jacket, and the only thing I'd change is early 30s coat with fur collar & trim :)------ Sydney, Australia |
