These are the outfits I made for my 4 grandchildren and my niece's 2 daughters to wear to our local 4th of July parade.

Here they are wearing them.

I used a combination of patterns, and did several changes to the patterns so doing a formal review is not a viable option. Yet, I wanted to show them on PR. So instead I am posting them here.

The skirts are really skorts--shorts are beneath.

The colors of the outfits are so vibrant and really made the kids stand out at the parade. Many of those passing by in the parade and those attending the parade commented on the outfits and the kids had a ton of candy thrown towards them!!!

Both fabrics are a cotton jersey knit with a bit of lycra that I ordered from Banberry Place

I had searched the Internet for many months searching for appropriately sized stars and stripes kint fabric in order to make these outfits that I had pictured in my head. Finally found it in early June.

I really love how they turned out.

Thanks for looking!

P.S. It was 105 degrees during the parade. But thanks to my niece, we had shade under the canopy they set up along with comfy chairs and a cooler full of beverages! It was hot but fun!

Of course I'll share the pattern for the skort Deepika! I should've included it with my original post.

It is the Isabella Skort from 5 Berries

The pattern is a downloadable. It suggests using woven fabrics. I used knit without any problem. The skort pattern has 2 ruffles at the bottom. I used the width of the widest ruffle and added that length to the skirt's length instead as I didn't want a ruffle on this skort. The pattern is sized from 12 months to 12 years--worth the $6.90 for the pattern.

The pattern is so easy to make and the directions are extremely easy to follow and includes colored pictures to follow along with too. Just remember to set your printer page set up to "NO scaling" when you print it out so your patterns print out correctly sized.

I also added another extra inch to the length of the skirt length because I wanted a full inch for the hem. Little tiny hems on knits can sometimes roll up and I didn't want that to happen.

It's an awesome pattern that I know you would get to use over and over again for your own little girl--it's creative possibilities are endless. I think adding a thin elastic around the hem of the shorts (creating bloomers) would be cute too. Little girls like to play, bend over...and it's always nice when you don't see their diapers or panties because the skirt is a skort. With this pattern, it really does look more like a skirt.

Deepika--the fabrics I used for these outfits are out of stock at Banberry right now. I did send them a pic of these outfits earlier today and ask them if they could get more of these 2 exact fabrics as I want to order more. They do have jumbo star fabric and other red striped but it's not what I used for these outfits.

In case anyone else is interested in these particular fabrics, just track this thread and I will post their answer when I hear from them. I did like that the stars and stripes were appropriately sized for each other. And that the fabric machine washed and dried beautifully!

What a lovely family! The outfits are so cute and well thought out... even the bibs. That photo is sure to bring back a lot of happy memories in the years to come. I will check out the Banberry and 5 Berries sites. Thanks.
