Elastic waist men's shorts/pants? Twice in a week on Hautelook, and that's a lot easier than real pants!

Since DH liked them, I whipped up a similar pair based on Simplicity 9499 with a mock fly and pockets from other patterns. They took maybe five hours total. It was nothing (and might not have taken that long had I not needed to unplug my sewing machine because of a thunderstorm). I figured that would be the end of that. Then today, I noticed a pair with a knit waistband, no zip. Are these in? I'm a little unsure because I've been seeing a lot of capri shorts for men too, and shorts on the runways have been creeping up the thighs. Does the DH need more than one pair of drawstring pants or shorts?

Date: 7/7/12 7:51 PM I saw a lot of shorts on students a few years back, but they seemed more of a fad. What I'm seeing more recently is anything from just below the knee down to capri/cropped pants for men...partly a response to summer policies for electricity use in Japan, but also just less "in the face" as citywear for men.
