sew news offer They don't realize sewers can read and remember

They are doing a DVD series, and they sent the first one (without my requesting it), and I could keep it for $12. The letter specifically stated I did not have to return it. even if I was not going to order the series. The first DVD is $12 and the rest are about $22, but they don't say that anywhere, you have to do math to figure it out. So now I get an invoice that says to send the DVD back or pay up. So I copied the original letter (sometimes it's good to keep things), highlighted the paragraph stating the above, and sent it back to them with a note. This ticks me off. I would appreciate being asked if I want to participate in their offer. I have tried those type of things before, and they are invariably a hassle. If they want to sell DVD's, why don't they just make them and offer them for sale on their website, like Threads does? I think their methods are sneaky and they are hoping that people will be too distracted or busy to cancel out of the deal. After my subscription expires to SN, I don't plan to renew.

That has been the law for ages and ages. I just sent them a scathing email telling them what I think of the practice. Perhaps more of us should do so. They do ask for an email when you send comments, but there are several disposable email services that you can use.

Date: 7/8/12 6:41 AM I hadn't gotten around to returning my DVD and this past week I received a nasty little note. I sent it back yesterday, but was sorry to see it go because every time I tried to look at it, I fell fast asleep. It was much better than Benadryl. I did finally get through it and it really isn't worth what they want. Chris

And how tacky of them to try dinging you all for it. Simply no excuse.. Frankly I WOULD have sent a nasty little note back to them and cc it to the Stetes Attorney General.

If you get a letter asking for payment or the DVD back, please send an answer in writing, via certified mail explaining that it was sent to you as a FREE GIFT. Deb Fox Intermediate FL USA Member since 8/26/05 Posts: 1175	Login to reply to this post Like this post Date: 7/9/12 4:25 PM Also just to add, they settled a multi-million dollar lawsuit in Florida for just these types of practices, sending books, etc. that were never ordered to subscribers of Men's Health Magazine,then starting collection activity agains anyone who did not pay the invoices....they would repeatedly call and demand payment and sent multiple accounts to collection...and this is too funny...they filed suit agains the town they are located in, because they were violating a weed ordinance, and they wanted to prevent the town from coming in to cut down the knee high weeds! ------ Deb: www.thinkingcouture.blogspot.com
