While serging the side seam of a dress (Simplicity 2648) I accidentally caught the main body of the fabric and the serger knife cut the fabric. It's a long triangular tear. Do I have to throw away the dress? It's on the lower back of the dress. Is there any way it can be saved or repaired? Thanks!

Been there, done that. Depending on the fabric you may be able to fuse interfacing to the back and do a zigzag over the top. Similar to mending a tear.
