I've made a top from this book (Pattern Magic Stretch Fabrics), put in Review Gallery recently, and am going to start working some of the other examples looking at the drafts. I'm planning to do a series of blog posts on this, a sort of Draft Along, so if anyone else has the book and feels like trying some of these pattern drafts, or would just like to peer over my shoulder while I have a go, I'll start posting tomorrow, barring the unforseen.
I'm going to work the examples up in half scale and put them on my half scale dress form to get some all round views of the garments, but discuss how to alter the drafts for different figures.

This is an intriguing book as I've never seen sculpted clothing before. I'm curious as to what you will complete and will be watching your progress.

I will be watching too. I wonder if drafting for a half scale will give the full effect of the intended design? Very interesting!!

I shall be 'peering over your shoulder', too, Petro. Have fun!

Too bad my half scale form is in another state, otherwise I'd love to draft along with you... Do you have the English versions of the books? Mine are only in Japanese, which I do not know how to read. I'll be following your progress on your blog though, good luck!

The only problem with half scale is that like when you make dolls' clothes, the thickness of the fabric is on a different scale as well. But the author does work her designs in half scale too. Even more than usual patterns, the fabric will affect the design. I'm using this technique to work through ideas quickly and get a feel of how a garment would turn out.

I have this one in English, the others I have in Japanese. The instructions are sparse though, so very dependent on the diagrams. That's part of the reason I'm blogging as I go along. So that any unclear bits can be thought about and shared. I have made the first post, really quite interested in the result, which looks as though it could be worked up into a garment.
