Date: 7/17/12 10:18 PM Hello! I am looking for a bernina 440qe and wondering if anyone is selling theirs, or if anyone knows of one for sale? I have looked on craigslist and no luck, and I have looked on ebay but I am nervous about ebay since I have had bad luck in the past. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Date: 7/17/12 10:29 PM Have you joined the yahoo group sewitsforsale? Very active group, and you can put out an ISO on that machine.
I would be wary of CL, but not necessarily ebay. There have been so many scams on CL. My son was looking for a used car, and 4 of the 8 ads he inquired about were scams.
There are some good deals to be gotten on ebay. Just be careful and ask plenty of questions. If they claim to have had it serviced, demand to see a copy of the receipt - emailed to you, with the dealer name and phone number on it. Then call them! Or ask if you can call and talk to the seller. Sometimes that may make all the difference in your confidence level.
Best of luck. My dealer still has a floor model of that machine for sale! Every month she sends a *more drastically reduced* notice! I guess it's just too old, and her regular customers are updating. It's a classic though! Nothing but good things heard about that machine.
Good luck - just keep your eyes open and check the classys here too. -- Edited on 7/17/12 10:30 PM -- ------ Bernina 730E, 530, and 350PE

Date: 7/17/12 10:43 PM I've seen a few really good sellers of Berninas on eBay. The one I see the most is judysue. She has a 100% feedback and it seems like a lot of her machines are trade-ins that were not used a whole lot. She doesn't have a 440 right now but they come up often. -- Edited on 7/17/12 10:44 PM -- |

Date: 7/18/12 3:18 AM There's a 430 for sale here on the PR classifieds. I can't remember all the differences between the 430 and the 440, but they're pretty similar, and you can pick up the BSR and walking foot used on the Yahoo Sew It's for Sale group for a reasonable price. I may be selling my BSR soon - I don't think I care for it, but I want to give it more of a try before I give up on it. Something to think about! ------ Olivia, my Pfurple Pfaff Creative Performance

Date: 7/18/12 10:20 AM The 440 has a few more stitches than the 430, and comes with the BSR/Walking foot. Otherwise, they are pretty much identical. I LOVE my 430, and in the end, was glad I didn't get the BSR.
The BSR for the Aurora's only does straight-stitch. The ones for the higher up machines does zig zag too. |

Date: 7/18/12 11:41 AM Hi Kom5,
I would call Bernina dealers in your area...they take them in as trade ins and they will also place your name on their list to contact when one comes in... Going through a dealer the machine will be serviced before selling and dealer may offer a 30 day warranty... I did this when looking for my Viking 770 two years ago...

Date: 7/18/12 11:53 AM Hey Maia,
I saw your message from my post about a bernina 440. I am actually coming to Chicago in August for a mini vacation for our wedding anni. So, if everything turns our how it is planned, maybe this could work. How much are you asking for your 440? Thank you!
