Date: 7/22/12 3:42 PM Has anyone changed this pattern from a T shirt to a dress version? This is first pattern that I was able to sew without any revisions so would like to continue my success with a dress. Could I extend the front and back to the desired length easily? |

Date: 7/22/12 5:05 PM I, too, have this pattern and have made the scoop neck version four times. I have two more in the que, one in purple and one in heliotrope. Right now I'm working on a tote bag using the chainstitch as a decorative finish, but when I'm done, those shirts are next.
I haven't tried it as a dress so you'll have to wait for others to reply to your question. Good luck making it into a dress! ------ Judy |

Date: 7/22/12 8:06 PM This is my TNT, but have not thought about making it a dress. I don't see why it would not work as a simple a-line dress. I have been looking at some french terry in my stash that is a little brighter blue than I would like...but would make a nice summer dress. I will give this a try this week. Duh moment? |

Date: 7/23/12 7:10 AM Why don't you email Pamela directly? She'll get back to you with suggestions. She got back to me within a day or two when I emailed her with a question on one of her patterns. She's a sweetie! (Her email is on her patterns or website.) |

Date: 7/23/12 7:36 AM Go ahead and do it! I'm a real fan of turning tops into dresses and vice versa. If you have a knit dress you like you can use that to decide hwo much length to add. Then you can decide to just extend the width as is and see if you like a simple straight dress or you can add some flare either just at the hem or perhaps higher for an a line look. Here's a Hot Patterns youtube video where Trudy does this to her Cabana T Shirt Pattern.Cabana T shirt youtube ------ www.luckysewandsew.blogspot.com |

Date: 7/23/12 8:01 AM you can always cut it back to tee length if you don't like the results |

Date: 7/23/12 9:41 PM Pamelas pattern 107 has directions for making the Tshirt into a dress. ------ My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since. |

Date: 7/23/12 10:54 PM Sure you can lengthen to desired length for a straight tee shirt dress or flare both front and back pieces for an A line. I've done this before by just making an extension out of paper. Good luck. ------ Corinne |
