Date: 7/23/12 11:38 AM Some YouTube music videos I really like have been pretty much ruined for me because of troll comments, usually dozens of comments by the same person.
Also, some people seem to toss out almost all comments they receive, even if someone posts "Beautiful!" or whatever. One song I really like and which is apparently pretty popular (116,175 views, 485 likes, 3 dislikes), has a total of TWO comments that were accepted. I'm sure way more were submitted but never posted. I posted ONE nice word of praise and the comment was never posted. So there must be some sort of YouTube setting that lets video posters pitch almost every comment if they want to.
A balance would be nice -- deleting troll posts, but keeping the rest. I'm not sure how this works. The Internet is as weird and varied as people, eh? 
I'm only asking this because the comments can really detract from a video, but it's also sometimes nice to read friendly feedback. Some of the things I like are only available online (e.g. amazing live performances, better than the CD version), otherwise I guess the obvious answer would be "buy the CD."

Joan.. this is hard to do.. and you have to get in the habit.. JUST DON'T READ the darn things.. There is so much else for us to worry about that is worth the stress and worry in our daily lives. Why add to it needlessly. This is what happens when you have Freedom of Speech..

You can't comment but you can watch all you want. Comments - newspaper sites, you tube, whatever....waste of time.....attract nuts and worse....

One of the songs has comments plastered everywhere by the same troll. He's actually asking some pretty good questions, but they're all stated in extreme fashion, lots of fury and cursing. I was going to send the link to the song to some people, but couldn't bring myself to.
Oh well. Just don't read them, just don't read them, just don't read them.... (trying to train myself)....

Just remember.. they are people you don't know. don't care about.. and will never meet anyhow.. nor would you care to.. so why would you upset yourself by reading their dumb posts..

Those I can ignore -- I skip over all kinds of inane stuff every day. These were different -- comments by someone obviously very intelligent but clubbing people over the head with his deep anger. Those are harder to ignore.
Sigh. I'll try. Remember the days when listening to music, or reading the news, didn't involve seeing people's silly and/or angry comments?

Sometimes people even write them. Occasionally they actually even have something to say.
But thanks for the reminder that the world is in many ways an apathetic, cold place. I'm pretty sure it's going to get much worse, so I should learn NOW to stop reading most of the comments that are posted online.
