Date: 7/23/12 3:51 PM Do the pinstripes of this fabric
work with the ruffles on either the grey or pale blue skirt from McCall's 5523
Also, will the stripes do odd things at the shaped areas where the front/back join the side front/back? -- Edited on 7/23/12 3:53 PM -- |

Date: 7/23/12 4:24 PM Okay, that's what I was thinking but I was trying to talk the fabric into working with the pattern.
Any suggestions for a pattern for this fabric? It's for my 25 yr old daughter to wear to the office. I keep looking at dresses but everything I like seems to have princess seams and I'm not so sure that works either. |

Date: 7/23/12 4:43 PM Any desire to "play" with the stripes? This skirt would work with that fabric, but is probably very taste-specific

Date: 7/24/12 9:00 AM Well, that's a very interesting skirt! The picture shows a fabric very similar in strip to what I've got. However, I'm afraid that I know my daughter would immediately veto the pattern. Definitely not her style. |

Date: 7/24/12 1:45 PM What about Simp 2648 I'm thinking that I could cut the side bodice piece on the bias. However, the skirt front and skirt side front have a bit shaping at the top as if making a dart. How will the stripes take to that?
Am I trying to hard with this fabric? Maybe I should just go with the simple pencil skirt. It's just that I really wanted to do something different to really make the most of the fabric? |
