I am trying to make nice edges for fleece and am not sure what to use.

should I use satin fold over tape or fleece binding?

also - for the sake of budget - is fleece binding easy or hard to make?

Fleece binding is easy to make, just cut strips with a rotary cutter. I prefer a thinner fleece like microfleece for binding, to reduce bulk. I've also used other fabrics such as lycra spandex knit and stretch velvet. Wide foldover elastic works well too.

okay, also- for clothing items like ponchos and such would satin trim or satin binding look neat or semi-professional?

or would it look too funky?

or just stick to fleece?

I think the satin would be fine. Petersham ribbon is something else to think about.

There's something else you can bind with, but my brain has temporarily lost the word for it... Maybe someone can help me out here?

It's stretchy and somewhat shiny... tricot, perhaps? I see this a lot as a seam binding in sporting goods jackets.

I believe those are lycra strips.

I was very pleased with this edge

It took ages to get the stitching just right. I used a Greek stitch on my machine, but I am sure other stitches would work just as well, which I sewed over the edge of the turned fleece. This completely buried the edge so it is difficult to tell which is the front or back.
