I just saw this article today on threade :

Hair pin lace

and I was wondering how one would attach something like that to clothing as a nice touch or something.

I would not machine sew it on, just because after all that work I would not want machine stitches in it. Or even showing at all. I think I would just hand tack it down more sight unseen, like in the middle areas and in the center, and leave those loose edges loose and floating. Also then, if you needed to wash or clean what ever they were on, you could just remove them pretty quick for that, and then put them back on afterwards probably?
