Found this site searching for kids' projects.
Lots of free tutorials. I'm trying the elongated ruffle
dress using a T pattern, copies of $40+ RTW ones.
Also a link to free Ottobre tank.

From one Grandma to another--thanks--lots of cute ideas she has!

Thank you Lord for my mother who taught me the joy of sewing, for my father and husband who encouraged my sewing, for the talent You gave me to sew, and for all the special people in my life to sew for.

More free kids patterns, you can print only the pages you need.

I'm doing the Monkey Bar skirt without pants and making it knee length for my 7-yr. old GD. Soft stretchy waistband. Often it's hard to find substantial cute knits locally. I got a couple new Kohl's women's T's in fun summer prints in XL for $5 (sale + coupon.) Long-sleeve winter T's and turtlenecks are even cheaper now.
Just cut your length from underarms down (mine was full 17") leaving the sides and T hem intact. You can use the full width of 45" for a big girl since their full skirt is usually double the waist msmt. You may want to cut the skirt A-line shape or you will be gathering the extra waist before stretching the yoga-style waistband to fit it. The waistband can be cut from the top/back pieces of the T.

This is clever--the short sleeves become pockets! Just cut around them at seam, open at underarms, and turn them upside down so the hem is at the top, making a curved pocket, wider at the top. Thread an elastic thru the open hem ends and gather to make 2 round scoop pockets. Add trim if you want and match it around the hem of skirt. Stitch elastic ends, turn under pocket edges and sew on skirt front.
Sew on waistband, stretching to fit the skirt, and serge/zigzag edges. For a shorter skirt, you will have enough left to make a matching headband too. You are done in time for a party skirt!

As a Bargain shopper, I'm always looking for quick/affordable projects for the GK, since kids are hard on clothing.
We're in the Midwest and have a new Ollie's Outlet. (from Pa?)
For sewists, great prices on lots of quality sheet sets to re-purpose. I just got a pkg. of 2 cute denim-stripe pillowcases (400 thread count, retail $20+) for $5. They are 20x30, enough to make one into a pillowcase dress for GD, and the other enough for 2 pair of summer/PJ shorts for her brothers. Darn, never get time to sew for myself.....

Now can't get into original site with registration either--it says contact Blogger but where--anyone else?
