What measurement should I use to order size?

I would like to try to make Kate's Dress (or Rachel's since I'm plus-sized).
However, with Style Arc patterns there is only one size in each envelope, hence my question: what is the best way to order? By my large tummy area and down-size my top and shoulders, or by my bust and add approximately 6 inches to my tummy area?

Any suggestions will be most appreciated!

thanks, darlene

Sorry, I don't know how else to enter the picture, you will have to right click on the little box and choose "view image."

That dress is lovely!

General wisdom seems to be that you select patterns by your shoulder/upper chest size, as it is a much harder area to alter successfully than the waist area.

The best suggestion I can give is to email Chloe at StyleArc with your measurements, and she will advise you on the best option.

Chloe has been very approachable and helpful to many members here (including myself), and is very keen to make sure her customers are happy with their patterns.

Thanks Nora. It is so good to hear that a company's customer service is so great!

I will be sending the e-mail as soon as I get my DD to help with measuring me. I think someone else doing the measuring will give me better, more accurate numbers.

Thanks again for the suggestion and the great CS review.

I just ordered a few Style Arc patterns and ordered without contacting them. Now I'm hoping I ordered correctly.

I chose dress and top patterns by my bust size and pants by my hip size knowing that I will have to enlarge the waist.

I'm really looking forward to having patterns in my size. Even though I'll trace them off, it will be much easier than tracing multiple sizes!
